A chilkit
description
The eight foot tall crablike creature has fiery red armor on top of pale
gray flesh. Four jointed legs stand out from its thick, barrel-shaped body.
A torso encased in a crimson carapace is attached forward of the legs, and
has two pairs of arms. The lower pair ends in articulated fingers sporting
sharps talons. The upper pair is even more fearsome. A massive set of
scissorlike claws tip each of these arms. The chilkit's head is hard to
discern-its torso simply comes to a blunt point. Whip antennae sprout from
this point, and four wide-set black eyes protrude on flexible stalks below
the antennae. Lastly, a vertical mouth, surrounded by horny palps, opens
and shuts as the chilkit forces seawater through its gills.
